A couple of weeks ago, I recorded a story for CBC Radio’s “Definitely Not the Opera.” The story is about how I started praying as a child — and continued praying for years and years — that God wouldn’t send me a husband. Later, of course, I realized I didn’t want a husband because I’m as gay as a window, but at the time I just knew I didn’t want to marry a man.

Anna and Steve from Ontario sent Sook-Yin, the show’s host, this song and the following email:

We enjoyed the “Like a prayer” show, particularly Heather Hogan’s story about praying to God to NOT send her a husband. It inspired us to write this little ditty, titled, appropriately “God, please don’t send me a husband.” That’s Anna singing, and the two us sharing ukulele duties. Hope you enjoy it.

Hands down one of the coolest emails/MP3s I’ve ever received.

the bible has the worst fandom ever

they can’t really help it

a lot of established canon from season one was totally ignored in season two
